honeymoon suite | dimitri & vice

You made it to the Honeymoon Suite! Yay! After being taken to a very romantic looking castle on a lake, which is just far away enough from the manor to give you a nice amount of privacy, you'll be escorted to a fabulous room that you both can call your own, for now! It has the fluffiest beds, the coziest blankets, and even a gorgeous view of the lake. There's a very well stocked kitchen, with any food you could dream of, as well as a chef that can make any dishes out of your repertoire. Most importantly — you finally have privacy and your every last movement isn't being filmed!

Basically, you're living large, now!

While the room certainly provides for any of your shelter needs, any additional requests you have may be made to the staff that keep politely out of your way at the castle's exterior. You're free to return to the manor by having a staff member row you to the other side of the lake, where you'll have a short carriage ride back to the house. Otherwise, enjoy your alone time with one another!

[ He's been looking forward to this dinner with Vice, lack of tastebuds be damned -- it's far more about the company for him, anyway. Their first week in the Honeymoon Suite was blessedly uneventful, pleasant and quiet save for the brief periods he had returned to the manor, and it hardly seems possible that a week has already gone by, and only one more remains.

He is perhaps a little stir-crazy, a lance without a target, but he has, at least, had plenty to think about, thanks to his conversations with Vice and Celeste. He's not so good at being alone with his thoughts -- his five years of solitude will attest to that -- but this has been...beneficial, he thinks. His mind is clearer than it has been for awhile.

So when Vice asks him that question over their somewhat unusual (if still delectable) meal, his answer comes more easily than it would have a week ago. ]

To be honest...I'm a bit anxious. We're still the only certain match. Do you think the others will be able to figure out their own in time?

[ Though he's not as anxious about it as he expected. He wants his wish, of course, but whether or not he uses to complete his revenge remains to be seen. It would be more satisfying if that came by his own two hands alone, without the aid of magic. ]

I believe we'll have a clearer sense of where everything falls after this week's truth booth.

[Something of a pessimist by nature (or is it nurture?), she can't promise him an ideal future where everything works out in their favor. He's also astute enough to know that on his own, so she doesn't dwell on what's beyond her control. It would simply grate on her nerves, and he doesn't need to see an ugly face on top of his preexisting worries.]

Are you concerned about your wish?

[ He does know that on his own, and it's an eventuality he is prepared to face, even if a bit disappointing. Still...

Regardless of whether or not he leaves here with his wish, it's not as though he will be coming out with nothing gained. Far from it.

A shake of his head. ]

Not as much as I thought I would be. I would still like to obtain it, of course...but I am determined to see my mission through to its end, regardless of what happens here. [ A beat. ] Are you?

[Pondering the answer, she helps herself to a small forkful of salad. Were it the first week, she might've been rankled beyond measure. Now she finds that she's calm, if a touch guilty, because she'd entered the competition for someone else's sake, only to come out of it thinking about herself more than ever before.

It's all too strange, but the similarities in their sentiments are soothing.]

No. The end is close. Whether we win or lose, I will also fulfill my mission.

I'm glad to hear you say so.

[ Not that he ever doubted her, but he resolve is likewise reassuring. Neither of them pinned all their hopes on this game, and neither of them are leaving empty-handed, even if they don't get their wishes. ]

I have heard that after previous, ah, "season" of this game, participants have been able to visit one another in their own worlds. That being the case...should you ever have need of it, my lance is always at the ready on your behalf.

[ Perhaps it goes without saying, but he feels this is important to make clear. ]

[Her smile widens a smidgen at the reminder.]

There are various ways to traverse worlds and dimensions. I'm certain that I can reach yours even without the competition.

[It might leave her weakened, but she can find a way. If it comes down to that . . . ]

But the point of your lance is needed elsewhere. Are you close to fulfilling your mission?

[ Of course, he would insist that she needn't put herself out for him like that, but neither of them have really yet curbed their self-sacrificing tendencies. ]

I believe so, yes. Before I arrived here, we were close to entering Imperial territory. I expect a clash with the Emperor herself will soon draw near, and when it does...come wish or no wish, I will see my mission through to its end.

[ And then...after that? Well, he is still figuring that out, but at least his plan is no longer to simply wait for death to claim him. ]

[She worried, at first, both for herself and then for Dimitri. Now that the fog of uncertainty has begun to lift little by little, she can begin to imagine a future for him with less apprehension.

Dimitri's cause is just. He will win.

"We."]

Can you tell me about the people who stand with you?

[ A faint smile crosses his lips as he takes a bit of his sumptuous grilled cheese, familiar faces flitting through his memory. He owes them several apologies, he thinks...but he will have time for those soon enough. ]

My countrymen and women, for the most part. We all have our own reasons for fighting. Most of them just wish to see the conflict between nations resolve, and there's no question that taking out the Emperor would bring the war to its conclusion.

[ A soft, almost wistful sigh. ]

I have known some of them for my entire life. We grew up together, the nobles of Faerghus, and I would trust any one of them with my life.

[Her lips pull into a soft smile. She can easily imagine Dimitri in high society, deservedly surrounded by peers in solidarity.

But she has to ask.]

And Dedue . . . ?

[ A fond smile graces his features. ]

He has recently returned to my side. For many years, I thought him dead, slain in my place, but I never should have doubted him. He survived to stand by me still.

[ He's still in awe, really, but if anyone could survive such an ordeal, it is Dedue. Dimitri's faith in him is unwavering as resolute as ever. ]

Perhaps someday the two of you will have a chance to meet.

[Dedue is alive. What's more, he's well and stands by Dimitri after defeating impossible odds. Vice couldn't be happier for him, because it's a joy she knows intimately. It must have been painful, but what matters is they're back together.

It shouldn't make her feel so giddy, yet it does.]

Yes, I would like to meet someone so important to you. He sounds like an honorable man.

[ . . . Oh.]

[ It's a wonderful look on her, and Dimitri can't help but find himself excited in turn. He may himself be in trouble if Dedue and Vice should meet, but he can't help but wish for it, all the same. ]

The most honorable man that I know. You two would get along quite well...though you may find yourselves at odds over who is the more polite.

[ Wow, this callout??? ]

[Callout? Vice titters, brought back to the present by his quip. No, friend.]

It must be Sir Dedue. A man of unshakeable faith never wavers even in the smallest things.

[And she's quick to drop formalities in the company of friends. At the end of the day, it's not her at her core.]

[ On second thought, maybe he shouldn't ensure that they meet, he might not survive their polite behavior and manners. ]

Perhaps it would be better if the two of you met after a few strong drinks.

[ He's joking!! Joking. He's come such a long way in such a short time. ]

[He's joking. She titters again. He joked.

Then she'll indulge again, just this once.]

Why don't we make it a celebration? Then you can drink as well.

...I'd like that very much.

[ And something he'd like to consider a serious possibility for the future. ]

If it is indeed possible, I'd like to meet your Lady Karina as well.

[Vice pauses. Though her smile lessens, it still remains. Karina's hatred of people runs deep, and she's far from being in a good place—but Dimitri isn't from Aernas.]

She inhabits another body now. Her mannerisms have changed as well, but she's still herself. If that's all right . . . I can ask her about seeing you.
